6 Promising Start-Ups Of Pakistan



In 2005,Convo has started its operations in Islamabad with the name of Scrybe. Soon a five-member team worked out of a small room with some great opportunities and a new name. The start-up offers a platform for work conversations, messages and comments. It works like other social media portals, but more in an efficient way for the  office environment. Recently, the company has acquired a $5 million investment from a venture capitalist in Silicon Valley. Convo is acclaimed internationally, You won’t believe? Eatoye is a progressing start up that provides food delivery services in Pakistan. They came up with a huge network, with their services in 13 cities, and a portfolio of approximately 1000 restaurants around the country. It’s free for users and generates revenue by charging a transaction fee from eating establishments. Recently the venture has been acquired by Food Panda however, it continues to operate the  business as a separate entity in Pakistan.



Rocket internet is expanding its mission with its remarkable travel based start-up Jovago.com. It is an online hotel booking portal, with services in Lagos, Nairobi, Dakar and now in Pakistan.

Jovago Pakistan facilitates the booking process with its portfolio of 2000+ hotels in the country. Recently the venture has released its first mobile application for Android users and aims to upgrade it for other systems as well. Travelers can search hotels around them on the map and can find exclusive deals.



Groopic is an effective photographic app by Eyedeus. It was an idea that started off from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), and won the best start-up award recently. The venture is incubated by plan9 and has received a huge appreciation around the world. Basically, it’s a handy photo app designed to incorporate a group of people in a single click along with the photographer. They got their app in almost 16 economies with positive reviews. Eyedeus are experts- striving hard to become no 1 inventors of the  tech-world.

Popinjay venture is all about fashion and styling-incubated by Invest to Innovate. The start up brings out the best craftsmanship and fashion sense from the women in Punjab region. It is led by Saba Gul, a young entrepreneur striving to bring change with her innovative ideas.The handbags are produced locally, with the historical art-inspired embroidery of the Punjabi women.To your surprise- the Popinjay’s products have been featured in Vogue, NBC, and CNN and Al Jazeera America.



Appography is the only Pakistani startup that has secured funding from UK investors. It is looking forward to replace the much hated customer service call system that often keeps people hanging on the lines, with an awful music tune.  The founders of Appography have also been selected to participate in Blackbox– a 2 week immersion program in Silicon Valley for non-US startups. Appography’s is doing well by transforming the art and technology for the ease of users.
