Finally a movie is being planned on Pakistan’s cricket legend and opposition politician Imran Khan.

Known for his film ‘Khiladi 786’ and ‘The Shaukeens’, Indian producer Rakesh Upadhyay now wishes to make a film on the life of Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) or Movement for Justice Chairman.

Rakesh recently met the ‘Kaptaan’ (Captain) at his Bani Gala home to seek permission for the biopic.

Earlier, the producer’s visit was misreported as a collaboration with the former cricketer’s wife Reham Khan for a film.

But rubbishing the report Reham took to Twitter and wrote: “Misreporting alert: The Indian filmmaker wants to make a film on Imran Khan & came to discuss access.”

The PTI chief has established himself as a force in Pakistani politics.

From being the captain of Pakistan’s 1992 world champion cricket team to becoming one of the most popular political figures in the country – Khan has always been an enigmatic figure.

Few could have predicted that the former playboy cricketer, who bowed out from the international party scene when he married the heiress Jemima Goldsmith in 1995, would have become a political force of the most zealous kind.

Imran launched his political party, Tehreek-e-Insaf or Movement for Justice, at a rally attended by thousands of his supporters on May 10, 1996.

Despite the strong show of support, his influence is largely confined to urban areas of Punjab, Pakistan’s largest province, where Lahore is the capital.

Over the years – his divorce to British wife Jemima in 2004 after nine-year of marriage and secret wedding to former BBC weather girl of Pakistani origin Reham Khan – Imran has been the perfect fodder to tabloids.

His fight against corruption and subsequent anti-government rallies saw a rise to his political stature in Pakistan.

A film on the Kaptaan and his eventful life is a blockbuster in the making.
